I started menstruating at the age of eleven. And for a while I didn’t experience any menstrual pains or cramps until later.
My first encounter with cramps was miserable. I would hold my tummy tight in excruciating pains, roll over the bed, floor and even cried. I even blamed God for making a woman go through this. Menstrual cramps dealt with me seriously that I started looking out for a solution to end it.
At a point, I was advised to be taking a pain relief medication which helped but in the short run. My fear was that hope it won’t affect me one way or the other. So I decided to look for a better alternative.
Some women even advised that when I start having children, I won’t have to go through menstrual cramps and pains anymore. Unfortunately, I never saw any changes after becoming a mom. I still had menstrual cramps. And whenever it happened, my attention and activities would be disrupted as a result of the painful cramps.
So I started to do a research for a permanent cure to menstrual pains . I’m delighted to be sharing it with you but before I proceed let me enlighten you on the causes of menstrual pains.
Menstrual pain can be caused by the following below:
Endometriosis: The tissue that lines your uterus becomes implanted outside your uterus, most commonly on your Fallopian tubes, ovaries or the tissue lining your pelvis.
Uterine Fibroid: These noncancerous growths in the wall of the uterus can cause pain.
Adenomyosis: The tissue that lines your uterus begins to grow into the muscular walls of the uterus.
Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: This infection of the female reproductive organs is usually caused by sexually transmitted bacteria.
Cervical Stenosis: In some women, the opening of the cervix is small enough to impede menstrual flow, causing a painful increase of pressure within the uterus.
If you consistently dread that time of the month, and always feel uncomfortable on your period, you’ll be pleased to learn that there are lots of natural ways to combat period related symptoms.
I will be pleased to share some of the most effective remedies which I indulge in to ward off menstrual pain even before it starts. And I hope they work for you too.
1. Leafy Green: the reason for menstrual cramps and pains are due to a magnesium deficiency. Magnesium helps to regulate nerve and muscle functioning. Therefore, an increase in magnesium-rich foods can help to relax your muscles. So take advantage of leafy greens to stop menstrual symptoms. You can get them from your local market at affordable prices.
2. Turmeric: Turmeric will reduce unnecessary inflammation in the body and help to ease period cramps. Not only that; it helps to balance your hormones in case your menstrual flow is irregular. I’m so in love with Turmeric tea especially when honey is added.
3. Herbal Tea: There is something very soothing about sipping warm tea when you are suffering from period pains. Herbal teas have a unique way of soothing cramps. Try taking green tea, peppermint tea or any other herbs of your choice.
4. Water: Drinking enough water at least eight to 10 glasses a day will not only keep you hydrated but also will help get rid of toxins from your entire system.
Nevertheless, you will need to cut down your intake of sugar, sugary food, caffeinated food and carbonated drinks as they have a way of triggering menstrual symptoms thereby causing you pains and interfering with your daily activities.
