Every day around the world, moms go the extra mile to live the “mom life“, always putting the well being of their family first. The mom life is uniquely about the heart of a mother (which cannot be fully explained), but can be simply termed as ‘divine’.
When unimaginable things happen, a mom is compelled to go the extra mile putting the well-being of her family before hers… and this is one of the reason why mothers are mostly celebrated around the world.
Naturally, no mom wishes to be caught in a critical circumstances that will pose a threat to her family. The heart of a mother will do anything, even the unthinkable just to protect her family – especially her vulnerable children.
This brings me to the touching story of a 25-year-old mom – Jordan Anchondo – in last Saturday’s (August 3 2019) mass shooting at a Walmart store in El Paso Texas, that left 20 innocent people dead and over 26 others critically injured, during the back-to-school shopping season.
Below is an excerpt of the story as reported by NBC News:
Woman gunned down in El Paso shooting was shielding her 2-month-old son, family says.
“EL PASO, Texas — A 25-year-old woman who was shot while apparently shielding her 2-month-old son was among the 20 people killed when a gunman opened fire in a crowded El Paso shopping area, her sister said.
Leta Jamrowski, 19, of El Paso, learned Saturday afternoon that her sister Jordan Anchondo had been shot to death at Walmart while shopping for back-to-school supplies earlier in the day.
Jamrowski spoke to The Associated Press as she paced a waiting room at the University Medical Center of El Paso, where her 2-month-old nephew was being treated for broken bones — the result of his mother’s fall.
“From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him,” she said. “So when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones. So he pretty much lived because she gave her life.”
Anchondo was the mother of three children.
Anchondo’s husband, Andre, also died in the shooting, a relative confirmed to NBC News.”
So, so touching! What else can I say? I’m just short of words at this moment. The above story summed up the ultimate sacrifice Jordan Anchondo made. She died (alongside her husband) so her two-month-old baby could live.
May her soul rest in peace!
