How My ‘Infertility Story’ Can Help You

I may not be able to explain the pain you are passing through as a "trying to conceive" (TTC) woman, but I was once there.

Statistics have shown that truly, women bear heavily the challenges of infertility and childlessness, especially in a pronatalist society where inheritance and continuity is prevalent and dominant.

All my life, I have always loved babies. What’s not to love about them? Their tiny little feet, smooth glowing translucent skin, gentle charming smile and sparkling eyes makes them magical.

But you know what, I waited for years and I tell you, it was not a funny ride for me. The continuous visits to my gynecologist was exhausting and tiring. Talk about the numerous scan and test.

Is it the sleepless nights, the fasting and prayers that Missy doesn’t come out the next month. It was really a horrible time for me. A very horrible one and although I have a wonderful man by my side, I was fixed on having at least a child. I just wanted to have children!

The society in my home country, Nigeria, didn’t make it any easy. “Haven’t you given birth?”, “As beautiful as you are, what is left for you is to have a child”, “Aren’t you prepared to have a child at this time?”, were some of the crazy questions they asked, repetitively.

The emotional roller coaster of three miscarriages threw me overboard. I suddenly became a shadow of myself. I was sad, angry, bitter, shamed and withdrawn. This somehow was my life till I stumbled on some life changing principles and strategies.

I began to study them more day and night and soon, began practiced them. Gradually, I began to evolve, moving from a bad place to a better one.

I may not be able to explain the pain you are passing through as a “trying to conceive” (TTC) woman, but I was once there. I know it’s a bad place to be alone and also greatly challenging but I tell you, don’t give up yet. Hold on just a little longer. It may seem unending but I tell you, it has an end. Soon, your morning shall come with rainbow lined up in the sky and you will be celebrated.

Set your mind on the positives! associate with people who help you get better and not the ones that shame, ridicule and blame you. Never blame yourself for the challenges you are going through, please never do that.

I know in your trying times it’s not easy to live as though everything is fine but don’t just get yourself overwhelmed. I have seen  many women who out of worry for childlessness developed some terminal diseases like hypertension and some lose their lives.

Would you want to be one of them?

Friends, worrying does no good in this situation, instead it reduces your chances of  conceiving. There are many research results to prove this.

I am one of those who believe solely that no woman is barren. I am a testimony to that.
